Uses
Here is a collection of all the software, hardware and services that I use and recomment.
Cloud
11ty Site Generator
The 11ty site generator is a highly configurable and fast node based tool that I'm using to generate this site.
Azure
I'm using the App Insights, Logic Apps, and blob storage for my iOS App.
Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage
I'm using Backblaze's B2 Cloud Storage to store backups of my Raspberry PI with rclone.
CloudFlare
I'm using the free tier with an CI/CD connection from my private github repo for site hosting, security, and analytics.
Fastmail
I used Google Business for a long time but moved everything to Fastmail a few years ago and I've had no regrets. Their servers are fast, responsive, and I haven't seen a single spam message slip through and didn't have to set a thing up..
github
Of course, I'm using github! Currently hosting several private repos.
Frameworks
Processing.JS
Xamarin
Xamarin is what was, but as a former .Net developer it feels familiar and robust to me. My first App Store app, StudyStacks was built with it.
LAN
2015 MacBook Pro
This MacBook Pro is old! Officially the "Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014". It was the top of the line in its day, and is still blazing fast for most tasks. And, it was the generation before the butterfly keyboards and the loss of ports like HDMI and memory cards. I'm using the OpenCore Patcher to run the macOS Ventura (13.4).
Raspberry Pi - CM4 and IO Board
I'm using the CM4 (8GB ram, 16GB mmc) attached tto the IO Board for local backups, ad-blocking (with pihole), home automation (with HomeAssistant) and to stream my record player over Air Play (with Ciped and OwnTone).
Synology RT6600ax Router
I love the wi-fi speeds this router provides and all the geeky config options.
Services
1Password
I've used 1Password for years!
Grammerly
My spelling is aweful and my gramer is bad to. Thanks to Gramerly for making me look smarter.
Hover
I've had my domain name since the early 2000s. I don't remember who my first registrar was — probably Tucows. First heard about Hover from some podcasts and eventually transferred my domains in 2014 and I've been with them, and have been happy with their service and prices ever since.
Pushover
Easy way to send personal push notifications to my phone from Azure Logic Apps or other sources through a simple REST API.
