About Me
I am a 51-year-old software development manager who is based in Oklahoma City. I studied computer animation and multimedia design at the Art Institute of Dallas in the early 1990s. While in school, I purchased a book called "Teach Yourself HTML in 48 Hours" and began freelancing in web development. Eventually, I learned to program in classic ASP and build websites with a small team. Later, I learned to use .Net and gradually worked for larger companies and on larger development teams. Over time, I transitioned to being a business analyst and have recently become a manager.
About this Blog
In the early 2000s, I bought this domain name. I experimented with handmade blog software that I hosted on a work computer. That was during the golden age of blogs. I spent more time reading than writing, and the little writing I did was mainly programming my blog software. Later, I installed MoveableType and worked to customize the layout and design instead of writing. Over time, interest waned, and the ability to host at work was restricted, so the blog and site eventually died.
A Short Digression on the Spelling of "Insight"
After over twenty years, I don't know if the misspelling of the blog was intentional anymore. I know I chose to use "site" because it is a website, and the blog's intent was to provide some technical and personal "insight." However, I'm such a lousy speller that I'll never know how aware I was of the misspelling at the time. Whether the joke is on me or I'm in on the joke, I'm sticking with "Insight" now.
Why Revive It Now?
I wanted to revive the site because I've been working on technology projects and wanted to share details about them. I want to own my words and not post them on a site where another platform owns and monetizes them. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted a place to store all my content.
I also want to write and publish this site as a reaction to the AI-generated content that I'm already beginning to see and expect to only continue in the future. This site and its contents may be used for future AI training, but it was still crafted and edited by a person (with a bit of AI help of my own).
